Lindy Sexton is a photographer with an eye for finding imaginative beauty through her lens. Lindy grew up in southern Minnesota, exploring bluffs of the Mississippi and city dumps, Nikon N65 slung around her neck. During these years Lindy worked as a studio photographer, winning awards like Scholastic Silver Key for photography and Advanced Candid Photographer. It was during these years that she cultivated a love for travel, the outdoors, and yoga.
In 2002, Lindy took her interests to Duluth, Minnesota and for six years used the town as educational base and a tool for her artistic expression. While living there Lindy learned from many great artists like Adu Gindy and Gloria DeFilips Brush and took her inspirations into the community as an advocate for Minnesota Citizens for the Arts and Arrowhead Regional Art Council.
Lindy has traveled through much of Europe and India, using photography as a viewing box into many different cultures. In 2003, Lindy flew to Birmingham, England to study art. Within a year, she had ventured through much of Western Europe and collected a wide array of pictures, artistically documenting her travels. At this time Lindy was also involved with Photo Society at University of Birmingham where she coordinated exhibitions and built a photography darkroom for the campus.
In 2007, Lindy was a resident artist at Global Arts Village in New Delhi, India. For two months, she practiced yoga and traveled to exotic places, all the while collecting frozen moments in her lens.
An independently motivated networker, Lindy excels in the art community, polishing her own interests and collaborating with other artists in art making and critique. Lindy currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she works with local art organizations. Though photography is a steady passion, Lindy readily invites new experiences to enhance her lifestyle.
